Random Vbar Photo #6
Ask any of the regulars what's the greatest thing about Vbar and they will all say: the Gannon brothers. Through some sort of wizardry these two brothers are able to make you feel like part of an extended family. I've been going there for quite some time, have made many friends, was christened 'Dr.D' after a small but eventful incident, busted 'double tap' at least twice and lost to both James and Joe in arm wrestling - all these memories and many more are things you just can't buy in life, and I am thankful to these two guys. Do yourself a favor and be sure to visit them - they are there every friday, with open arms and hairy faces.

C'mon man the cock joke is old. Did you do something to JP's neck or teeth? What's happening here?
I look very devilish.

JP is a smart one, or very lucky.
I saw it on his neck and I thought it was 666, BUT you can barely make it out. Bad job!
it's supposed to be subtle you dumbass.
I love VBar as much as the next guy. And you know Joe and James are tops on my list. But, why has the mix blog turned into a Joe G/VBar love fest? Seems like every new post (except for those posted by Jack Kodiak) is some "random" photo of Joe (sometimes James) at VBar. And of course the signature hidden photoshopped comicbook reference. It was kinda funny the first time. Now it's just boring.
Itsn't this blog supposed to be about music and things that pertain to the Mix Project?
Hank,
Well, I would say that the blog, being titled "This is the mix" could be about a multitude of things, but maybe I'm wrong about that. If I am all you should tell me.
Music should definitely be a part of it, and believe me I am trying to post as much music related stuff as I can when I can. But because it is "The Mix" I'm trying to post about various things that I hope other people may find interesting (usually involving people I know) and in some way relating to the arts.
I think one of the big reasons why DR.D is posting these photos is to keep the blog alive because there aren't many new post being generated by mix members. I understand people thinking that the photo series has become boring, but I'm glad that someone else is posting anything at all.
I would suggest that maybe Dr.D create a series of photographs with a finite amount of entries. Maybe titled "Random Vbar Photo 1/10" or something like that and once he has posted the ten photographs in the series announce another series maybe entitled "Saturday Night Gallery 1/10" or anything like that.
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for all of us to give our input on all of these things and try to make the blog interesting and active. I know you guys have the beard blog post to contend with, but it would be nice to see a weekly post from each of you on this blog too. But I am not telling any of you what to do nor am I obligating you, or feel myself that you actually are obligated. I am however obligating myself to posting twice a week on the Mix and once a week on the Beard (which for the record, I consider myself a freelance Junior member). I'm also brainstorming a weekly idea/column that may actually start in the next two weeks.
That's my input on this. Guys give me your feedback on what I've been posting, if I've strayed from what you think the blog is about or anything else, tell me. I would like to see the blog live on, and I'm really glad that Hank has come out and expressed his opinion. Now let's discuss shit.
Optimistic,
This is Jack Kodiak
PS
I love Joe & James & Vbar too! Although Joe & James aren't too photogenic.
Screw you Kodiak!
All you like to do is drink, smoke and curse. You're a barbarian. But I agree with all that stuff before the P.S. part.
Hey Hank,
First off thanks for writing in this week. The Mix blog is tricky. Of course first and foremost it serves as a place for members to discuss bands that they heard on each other's mixes - it also serves as a place for mixers to keep track of when and where the next mix will be taking place, rules, etc. But in between each mix (i.e. six months) there is very little going on. It would be great if all the posts were about music but truth is there are millions of other blogs that have the time and energy to keep current. For example it was great that Matt added the show list on the right, but you aren't going to count on it for buying tickets or being updated, you'll go to 'oh my rockness' for that.
Jack was right in saying the random vbar photo is being put up to keep the site fresh - he was also right in saying it would be better as a series (which it actually accidently became but just without a finite ending). But truth is the mix has 13 members, if half of them posted an entry once a week the 'random' vbar photo would be just that, 'random' and not a main feature - and it would be taken for what it's worth, a funny picture of Joe or James. But we're never going to get people to post once a week - it's always going to be the usual suspects and that's it.
drinkin' from a half empty bottle of seltzer water,
Dr.D
